Now it's my turn

Well, everything that Malena said is true. I am a deep romantic. But here is my side of the story to help bring it some new light.

Proposing in mid-June was not my first option. My first option was to propose in July, but everything to make the proposal possible came at an earlier time. Malena had been begging me to tell her when I was going to propose, but I always said, "I don't know," after every month that she mentioned. She would mention months all the way up until January - then she would get really nervous because she thought I had not planned anything. Well, after I got the ring I called Malena's mom and started planning on when we could meet to talk about me marrying her daughter. We meet on Friday, June 13th, in Madisonville, TX, at a bed and breakfast where Bryan, Miss Judy, and I ate lunch. When I got home that day, the main item for the proposal was sitting on my doorstep. Once I realized what the package was, I began planning the proposal and hiding items. On Sunday the 15th, I found out that we weren't having a staff meeting on Thursday and decided in my mind, "I am going to propose on Thursday!" So, Monday I went to Borders Book Store and purchased the cook book. When I got home I embossed the cook book with the embosser and hid the items in the house.

On to Thursday...
I had asked her on Tuesday if she wanted to come over after counseling and I would cook for us. So I took a nap for two hours after skipping half of class and then went to get the food. I was getting nervous, but trying to keep my composure because I knew what I was going to do. So I fancied up the dining room and made it really sweet and personal. After we ate I told Malena that I was not feeling well, which meant that I was about to do the deed. I told her that I had something for her and went to my room where the book and the ring were kept. I came back and gave her the book, which he opened and glanced right over the embossing...at first. she then looked back and realized what it said. At that time, I got down on one knee and grabbed her hand and told her sweet things. Then I asked her to marry me and she said, "YES!" Then, I had to ask her again after she realized what had happened because she was unsure of what I said. It was sweet.

I wanted it to be memorable and something that we could hold onto. Know we have momentous as well as the memories.

Dear Charles-

Now, you don't know me yet, but you will! When sweet Malena told me about her super cute man, naturally I was intrigued and wanted to know more! Thankfully, she obliged :) I hadn't checked Facebook in a little while, until I saw a message from our other roommate, Stephanie (you might not know her yet either, that's alright), saying that our girl is engaged!

See, here's the thing. We love Malena a whole heck of a lot. We've all had our differences, but thankfully we've gone from little girls to big girls and have put things behind us and are all friendly again. So basically, what I'm saying is, I'm pleased as pie to see that the sweetest person I know (still) has found a super nice, cute, great guy!

Congratulations you two, and treat Miss Malena right, or else you'll have two fiery brunettes coming after you!

T.A.K. :)
